"Blues for Allah" es el octavo álbum y el tercero publicado por el sello discográfico de Dead, Grateful Dead Records. En su décimo año, Grateful Dead grabó uno de sus álbumes más ambiciosos desde finales de la década de 1960, con composiciones y canciones tan extravagantes, llenas de improvisaciones y psicodélicas como la música que hacían en 1968-1969. Tanto la cara 1 como la cara 2 incluyen pasajes instrumentales que muestran a una banda que profundiza en las entrañas de su creatividad, con "Slipknot!", "King Solomon's Marbles", "Stronger Than Dirt Or Milkin' The Turkey", "Sage & Spirit" y partes de la suite "Blues For Allah", que son algunos de los temas instrumentales más salvajes que los Dead han grabado en un estudio.
